چکیده

The snapshot object is an important tool for constructing wait-free asynchronous algorithms. We relate the snapshot object to the lattice agreement decision problem. It is shown that any algorithm for solving lattice agreement can be transformed into an implementation of a snapshot object. The overhead cost of this transformation is only a linear number of operations on atomic single-writer multi-reader registers. The transformation uses an unbounded amount of shared memory. Four lattice agreement algorithms are presented: • A deterministic algorithm that uses 0(1og2 n) operations on (dynamic) 2-processor Test&Set registers, plus O(n) operations on (dynamic) atomic single-writer multi-reader registers. • A deterministic algorithm that uses O(nlog2n) operations on (static) 2-processor Test&Set registers, plus O(n log2 n) operations on (static) atomic single-writer multireader registers. • A randomized algorithm that uses an expected number of O(n) operations on (dynamic) atomic single-writer multi-reader registers. • A randomized algorithm that uses an expected number of O(n log2 n) operations on (static) atomic single-writer multi-reader registers. These algorithms imply implementations of atomic snapshots with the same behavior. The randomized algorithms are constructed from the deterministic ones by using randomized implementations of 2-processors Test&Set registers from atomic registers. Electronic structure and charge transfer in 3C- and 4H-SiC

We utilized a local density functional potential, the linear combination of atomic orbital (LCAO) method, and the BZW procedure to study the electronic structure of 3Cand 4H-SiC. We present the calculated energy bands, band-gaps, effective masses of n-type carriers, and critical point transition energies. There is good agreement between the calculated electronic properties and experimental resu...

Clocking the anisotropic lattice dynamics of multi-walled carbon nanotubes by four-dimensional ultrafast transmission electron microscopy

Recent advances in the four-dimensional ultrafast transmission electron microscope (4D-UTEM) with combined spatial and temporal resolutions have made it possible to directly visualize structural dynamics of materials at the atomic level. Herein, we report on our development on a 4D-UTEM which can be operated properly on either the photo-emission or the thermionic mode. We demonstrate its abilit...

Silica gel: A very cheap, reusable, and efficient catalyst for green preparation of some bis-4-hydroxycoumarin on water

Silica gel has been used for synthesis of biscoumarin derivatives starting from 4-hydroxycoumarin and aryl aldehydes. The reaction conditions are completely in agreement with green chemistry principles including sing water as media and a recyclable and safe catalyst. This method is also simple and inexpensive and leads to high yield of products in short reaction times.
